Good product, but don't overdose!Almost no flushing, BUT the sustained release niacin can cause hepatotoxicity (liver toxicity) if taken over 1 g daily, so better to keep it within 500 mg daily dose. I highly recommend normal niacin, as it is much more liver-friendly, flushing goes again after 2-3 weeks, and you can increase the dose to 1 g without worrying about your liver, and experience the niacin's benefits of reducing LDL, increasing HDL and normalizing NAD+ levels.
BE WARNEDI used the "NORMAL" Niacinamid 500mg and NO problem or so for a 30+ year old very healthy slim adult. When i did reorder they shipped the sustained release and without knowledge of that i took 1 pill and after 2 days i had extrem pain in the stomach region and dark pee for the next 14 days. At times i thought i have to go to emergency. After finding out the studies of "sustain-release" induced niacin causing hepatitis and liver toxicity i was kind of released that the cause of my terrible condition was external and therefore in future easy to control, at the same time disappointed that this huge negative side effect is not red printed at IHERB to avoid suffering. Also it seems NOW and IHERB promote this danagerous "sustain-release" more since the "normal" one does not even exists anymore above 100 capsules. What a shame. BE WARNED!!

Niacin, also known as vitamin B3, is an important nutrient. In fact, every part of your body needs it to function properly. As a supplement, niacin may help lower cholesterol, ease arthritis, and boost brain function, among other benefits. However, it can also cause serious side effects if you take large doses.
I have been taking Niacin for a while. I was prescribed statins for years and every one of them caused severe muscle crapping. The flush to me means it is working to keep my blood vessels clear. So far my choleterol has dropped without statin usage, 30 points. Of course, I have also cut back on fried foods, alcohol, and I have been staying away from processed foods. I'm 69 years old and in relatively good shape. Walking helps. Hope this helps someone.
I am absolutely blown away by NOW Foods Niacin! This supplement is a complete game-changer for my cardiovascular health and overall well-being. With 500 mg of niacin per tablet, it provides the perfect amount of this essential nutrient to support my body's natural defenses. I love that it's easy to swallow and doesn't leave any unpleasant aftertaste. And with 250 tablets per bottle, it's also a great value for the price. I can't recommend this product enough. If you're looking for a top-quality niacin supplement, NOW Foods Niacin is definitely the one to get. Five stars all the way!
The body requires a specific amount of niacin -- known as the dietary reference intake (DRI) -- in order to function normally, and this amount can come from either food or supplementation. Niacin is a powerful substance, and it's important to be aware of its potential before taking it. Even a small dosage, such as half of a single pill, can cause a flushed reaction; however, when dosed correctly, niacin can be an effective supplement. It's important to understand the implications behind taking niacin and be knowledgeable of how much to take in order to safely reap its benefits.
My MD prescribed niain years ago for high cholesterol. Rather than buy expensive prescription niacin, I have always used the NOW over-the-counter brand. It's important to check with your MD as to dosage, side effects, and any necessary blood tests that niacin may require, just as other "statins" may require.
Niacin, B-3, is one of 8 types of B vitamins important for every part of your body. Niacin is water-soluble, so your body does not store it. As with all B vitamins, niacin helps convert food into energy by aiding enzymes. Niacin may help to improve your blood fat levels by increasing your HDL (good) cholesterol and / or reducing your LDL (bad) LDL cholesterol.
My cholesterol readings have always been high in the wrong direction for years. As I refuse to ever to take Statins I discovered sustained release Niacin on one of Dr Berg’s videos as being an effective alternative Comparing my pathology of a year ago with last month I was pleasantly surprised to see a significant difference in the right direction for the first time in many years It’s no point describing my results here as Australian markers are different from the USA & probably other countries as well I just hope taking a very high dose of Niacin doesn’t unbalance my other vitamin B’s in the B complex but I haven’t noticed any negative effects so far
After being told in hosp that I should be on statins I did sone reading and discovered that niacin could possibly contribute to lowering cholesterol levels. So a year later when my doc was pushing for medication I had my bloods done again and yes! LDL levels are lowering and HDL levels are rising, so very happy with this product. It’s not fast but no bad side effects as potentially there are with statins. Will certainly continue using niacin.
