This plant looks like a vine, although in more northern areas it takes the form of a shrub. Most often it grows twining around trees, like grapes. Schisandra catches the eye with its bright red berries, collected in thick columnar clusters. Each of these berries contains two seeds, the pulp has a sharp sour taste, so it is difficult to eat them fresh. The seeds smell strongly of lemon - this is what gave the berry its name. The bark of the plant and its leaves also have a lemon smell. You can’t just eat the seeds either: they are bitter and hot. Therefore, lemongrass is more often consumed in the form of vitamin supplements, which include Schizandra. Schisandra grows on Sakhalin, in Primorye, where there are broad-leaved forests. It produces an extensive harvest every few years. The size is small, the quality and taste are excellent. The beneficial and healing properties of the vine are due to its unique composition. The substances contained in the berries act on the body as a tonic and antioxidant, which in addition helps to strengthen its defenses.
